I first shot this amazing family a few years ago for now big baby brother Joshua’s Maternity session. Then a few months later at his newborn session his momma, Courtney, introduced me to the BEAUTIFUL world of Nursing Photography.
I’d seen it hundreds of times before, always thought it was such a tender moment between mother and baby, and this gorgeous momma, outside and in mind you, prized the moment enough to have it forever captured. “They won’t be doing this for long, and I want to capture this bond we have.” Priceless.
I headed over to their home one afternoon loaded with a doll bed I’d been DYING to use on a sweet little newborn. Given the transition I’ll be making this year to mostly weddings and engagements, I was eager to use it on a little girl…SOON! SO ecstatic that the Raper Baby #4 was a GIRL! Don’t get me wrong, I love little boys too, but the bows, and flowers, and fabrics for little girls…well… you’ll see 😉
Then, as with all newborn sessions, there were changes, and then FEEDING TIME! We headed back to the same room, now all pinked and girlified, where I’d shot Joshua nursing a couple of years before; and the beauty unfolded before my lens.
I simply cannot put into enough words, and ya’ll know by now that I’m very wordy/grammar oriented, how splendidly lovely it is when baby meets mommy in the way God designed them to. The little, rapid, excited breathing they do when they know it’s close is so sweet!
Once the little princess was happy and full we proceeded. We grabbed images of Aly Rose in her momma’s crocheted baby sweaters and booties…items that are beautiful family heirlooms. And I noted that they just don’t make clothes like they used to. Crocheting is such an under appreciated art form.
We inded with the baby bed, but as I was loading up she was just so happy and smiley at her big brothers that I couldn’t resist a few more Lifestyle images…seriously baby item makers…I want one of those rocking/swinging papasan things for adults! If they make babies this happy and sleepy I NEED it! Hahaha
A huge thank you to Courtney and Joel for letting me share in your lives. You all are honestly some of the world’s greatest parents, and your children are, and will be, enormous blessings to the world because of You!
