I’d hoped it would rain…I had a big grand plan for the rain. Alas, no such luck…a little lightning yes, but no rain.
I’ve known shelby since she was a LITTLE bitty girl. It’s literally mind boggling where time has gone, and now…she’s a SENIOR!
She has such a sparkling personality, and smile to match. I know her parents are insanely proud of the young woman she’s become.
We headed up to the Ocoee Whitewater Center, site of the 1996 Whitewater Olympics, to start her session. It’s really a killer spot just to walk around, and soak up nature’s beauty all while listening to the rushing waters.
Shelby had no fear and headed out on some rocks in her pretty sandals like.a.champ! We then loaded up and made the trek up Chilhowee to Lake McCamy to snag some images at the BREATHTAKING overlooks that flank the sides of the road as you make the 7 mile winding journey to the top.
A few hornets decided to make us their mission to run off, but Miss No fear just stood there like a boss! I, however, was FREAKING out! Ha!
We finally made it to the lake just as the sun sank completely out of site, and clouds started to briskly roll in…but still…no rain. 😦 It worked out splendidly though as the water was just calm enough to give me what I’d also hopped for…reflections. I had Shelby don a hair wreath I’d whipped up earlier in the day and the compliment it made with her green dress was more than I’d hoped for!
She danced, and played in the water, and with the pink fabric I’d hoped would be used in the rain. As the crescent moon appeared from behind the clouds I had a little fun with low light settings, and my iphone flashlight. Add in one of my “vintage” feel b&w Lightroom presets I’ve created, and the moody, poetic, art piece I envisioned of her reaching for the moon was born.
Shelby, sweet girl, I am so excited to see what the Lord has in store for you and your beautiful soul. Thank you for letting me grab these milestone images for you!
XOXO, B
