It was a SPECTACULAR Southern late Summer day in the Huntsville, Alabama area for Christine and Ben’s Creekside at Collier’s End Wedding!
I met Christine three years ago when I captured her older Brother’s Huntsville Botanical Gardens Wedding, and fell in love with their whole family. They told me as soon as Christine was engaged they knew exactly who they were calling to capture it, and I was completely excited to get the chance to help these precious people, who’ve become extended family, celebrate their baby girl’s wedding to her Canadian beloved, Ben!
At first meeting him, over Southern BBQ down in Madison, it was clear this Canadian Military gentleman from the very far North had fallen head over heels for this Southern Belle, and they compliment each other perfectly.
Their love for Christ radiates from deep within, and talking through their ceremony ideas and timeline I couldn’t wait to document their uniting together as one in what would prove to be a beautiful worship filled ceremony complete with a symbolic Foot Washing!
Working again with their amazing friend and Wedding Planner, Yvonne, made the day a breeze, and it was clear at rehearsal this would be one of the most Spirit filled Ceremonies we’d ever experience.
From prayer from the Bride’s father, to the Groom’s father officiating the Ceremony, right down to Scripture readings, and worship music played and sang by the Groom’s sister their day goes down as an all time favorite as it’s clear who they place at the head of their union as Husband and Wife.
Their getting ready and reception venue was the stunning Creekside at Collier’s End, and it’s an insanely picturesque Historic Plantation Home that offered an endless supply of gorgeous backdrops for portraits!
I usually don’t talk about the “what went wrong” scenarios in my wedding recaps, I mean who likes to remember the not so good things, but something happened on their wedding day that revived my weary soul, relit my fire for why I do what I do, and breathed reminders that the couple’s God places in front of my camera are each there for a divine purpose.
You see we had a *little* snafu, like most weddings always have…this one though was just a bit more involved than most, but thanks to our extra padding in the schedule, and the most gracious and kind Bride who never lost sight of the true purpose for the day, it went off with barely a hitch…and we all made it to the Church on time 😉
You’ve heard me say before that I avoid Bridezillas like the plague (and I am expertly attune to avoiding them at all costs haha), but when she would’ve had every right to have a “BZ moment” she simply breathed and trusted it would all work out exactly how it was supposed to.
It was her amazing calm and grace that spurred into action those of us who would have then done anything necessary to make sure this precious Bride had everything she’d dreamed of for her wedding.
When she told me words I’ve uttered to my Brides too many times to count over the years in response to the hiccup, and I could tell she truly believed them, I was prepared to do everything in my power, use every wedding skill I’ve ever learned, to give her exactly what she’d envisioned.
“As long as we’re married at the end of the day that’s all that really matters!”
When I told Yvonne what Christine had said she too was ever more at the ready to jump through hoops (and she pretty much did) to help give her her dream.
Brides reading this please know things will happen, they WILL, on your wedding day! However, if you make sure you pick vendors who can and will handle anything as smoothly as possible, PAD YOUR SCHEDULE, and breathe out grace knowing the end goal, to marry your best friend, is all that matters; then those vendors will try to move mountains ever more than they would if you go full-on BZ.
There’s no sense in letting anything ruin your wedding day loves, and Christine completely blew us all away with her beautiful spirit. While Ben further solidified his deep abiding love for his beloved as he repeatedly thanked us all for what we were doing for his Bride.
I have absolutely zero doubt after witnessing their wedding day attitudes that these two will positively be able to graciously, lovingly, attack anything this life may present them, and always come out better than ever!
Christine and Ben THANK YOU for allowing me to document this brilliant start to your Happily Ever After! May God continue to bless you both in all you venture to do! I love you both!
