When I say that God hand picks my clients, I mean it with my whole heart. Why? Because they’re people who have the most beautiful souls, and, in many cases like these two, they love each other in a way that transcends so much of what the world now says “love” looks like. My favorite part is when they turn out to be precious friends that I didn’t know I was missing.
I first met them way back in the Fall of 2013. Crazy how time literally flies. We went in what seems like a blink of an eye capturing their Engagement Portraits five years ago, to now photographing the beautiful way God creates life through documenting their Maternity Portraits.
Annistyn Kate will be one intensely blessed and loved baby girl, not just by them, but everyone who knows them.
When Kristen first messaged about the idea for a Glamour Maternity Session along with photos of the Sewtrendy Maternity Gown she’d ordered, I KNEW where I wanted to take them. And they were so game as soon as I sent over samples of images I’d captured there before….this time though would be something extra special.
Logan and Kristen share a love for loving on others and putting others, particularly the other one of them, above themselves that truly represents the way God designed us to love one another. I can’t wait to see that love evolve more as they become parents soon.
They both take the “Love thy neighbor as thyself, considering others as more important than yourself” very much literally. As her 8 month pregnant self traversed down and then later back up the mountain, with Logan’s steady arm and watchful eye right by her side, she kept asking about ME. Logan insisting on carrying bags, not even asking, and them both worrying about me, and my “Assistant”/mountain loving mother who HAD to come for their Maternity as she was also there for their Engagements.
Little things like that, that aren’t really that important in the grand scheme of anything, are what makes these two so absolutely dear to my heart, and what helped make this session SO spectacularly beautiful.
You can FEEL something so deep and meaningful when they’re in each other’s presence, and maybe I’m biased but I think it also come across in their portraits.
We were met with intense winds that made it much more difficult than usual to shoot up on the mountain, but it didn’t phase them. Patient and loving even in the colder than usual winds.
Logan was constantly replacing the train without complaint or even by request when the wind would blow it back JUST when I was ready to shoot. Hahahaha…THAT happened A LOT. Lol! It ALL paid off though.
The light was spectacular, God literally showed out for us, and though traversing the larger than usual crowds waiting for locations to clear was more than ever before, it opened up new opportunities to find spaces I hadn’t previously gotten to work in.
One ledge in particular, that led to my favorite Silhouette Portraits to date, was an unexpected blessing when the first location *I* wanted was too crowded.
So, thank you Logan + Kristen for trusting my vision, changing clothes on the side of a mountain, hiking whilst 8 months pregnant, battling wind and cold, and mostly for being great friends. I can’t wait to meet Little Miss Annistyn soon!
